Hello dears,
summer is just around the corner, and for that, you primarily need one thing: beautiful, self-sewn tops! :)
Here I show you four of my absolute favorite sewing patterns for summery tops in detail.
So you can get started with your next sewing project right away, I've also linked suitable fabrics for inspiration.
Have fun browsing and getting inspired!
Are you looking for a versatile and timeless tank top that can be sewn in a flash? Then Top Kurt is just the sewing pattern for you! This super beautiful, high-neck tank top can be styled wonderfully versatile. Whether as an elegant, high-neck top for the office, as a faithful everyday companion with jeans, or as a sporty version for your next workout.
Your sewing pattern details at a glance:
Absolutely beginner-friendly: Perfect for anyone just starting to sew or looking for a quick sewing project for in between.
2 neckline variations: Choose between a classic round neck or a modern, small stand-up collar
3 different lengths: Sew the top in classic long, a medium length, or as a trendy, belly-free crop top.
Step-by-step explanation: Includes a complete video tutorial on YouTube, where I show you every step in detail.
For your tank top to fit perfectly and move with you, you should choose a stretchy fabric. Depending on the intended use, I recommend:
For a comfortable everyday look:
A soft bamboo jersey (my personal favorite!)
or a flowing viscose jersey
These fabrics are super stretchy and feel wonderfully cool and light on the skin on hot summer days.
As a functional sports top for your workout:
If you want to sew a top for sports, it's best to choose elastic Lycra or performance jersey.
They are breathable and perfectly hold their shape.

When summer calls for something really airy, the oversized short-sleeved blouse Bill is your savior! With its casual cut, wide sleeves, classic button placket, and patch pocket, this blouse instantly brings vacation vibes to your wardrobe.
Your sewing pattern details at a glance:
For advanced beginners: Thanks to the detailed video tutorial, this is a great project to tackle your first blouse collar (difficulty level 2/5).
3 different lengths: Short, classic, or long.
Includes free extension: You receive the sewing pattern for the short-sleeved blouse and the long sleeve add-on for free.
Light woven fabrics of all kinds are suitable for Blouse Bill.
For a blouse with some body, choose:
-Linen, cotton poplin, cotton/viscose, seersucker
These fabrics are super easy to work with due to their firmer handle and perfectly suited for a first blouse project.
For a blouse with a more flowing look, choose:
Viscose satin, viscose poplin, muslin, viscose/linen, Tencel, Lyocell.
These fabrics are super soft and flowy, but not perfectly suited for a first blouse project.

If you're looking for a top pattern that's an absolute eye-catcher and stands out from the classic basic, then the One-Shoulder Top Heinz is exactly the right choice. The special thing about this pattern is clearly the asymmetrical design and the great cutout detail at the neckline and strap.
Despite its unusual look, it's totally easy to combine – whether casual for everyday wear or as a key piece for the evening.
Your sewing pattern details at a glance:
Easier than it looks: Even though the asymmetrical design looks complicated, the pattern is absolutely beginner-friendly and sewn just as quickly and easily as a normal top.
3 lengths: Includes the classic length, a medium variation, and a cropped version.
With video tutorial: Every step is explained in detail in the accompanying YouTube tutorial.
For your one-shoulder top to fit perfectly, you should choose a jersey fabric that stretches in all 4 directions ("4-way-stretch").
My favorites are:
Bamboo jersey, viscose jersey, and modal jersey.
These fabrics meet the stretch requirements and are comfortable to wear.
For a workout top, you can also sew with Lycra.
